The role will manage 4 Children and Family Centres in Southwark, and will oversee targeted one to one work, targeted group work and universal group work. This is mainly for the under 5 population in one of the locality areas.
This is an interim post, while the commissioning details are organised. The staff team have been through a turbulent time, and will need an experienced, strengths based manager. It is important that staff are able to focus on providing excellent services for families, and they will need support and guidance to do this.
Complex assessment work at individual client level. To hold responsibility for assessment,
case planning, service provision and review: identifying and addressing the needs of
individual clients within delegated budgets.
To be a part of a management team responsible to the operational functioning of a
Referral and Assessment duty service
Candidate Profile:
• To hold a recognised social work qualification.
• Knowledge of the legislation governing the function of a Social Services Department, including the consequent statutory duties and application
• Knowledge and understanding of current issues in social work practice including assessment, court work and packages of care.
• Knowledge of methods to assess performance and the achievement of targets in social work practice.
• Knowledge of a Social Services department and related agencies.
• To have a minimum of three years’ post qualification experience of social work practice, and the undertaking of court work where issues were both complex and in dispute.
• Experience of supervising social work staff including task allocation and setting priorities, training and development and formal supervision.
• Experience of Referral and Assessment processes, duty systems, referral
Pathway process and the interface with other service providers both statutory and voluntary when making enquires to duty
• Experience of establishing effective working relationships with other professionals including representatives from organisations external to the Department.
• Experience of applying the principles of equal opportunities in the implementation of social work practice, to address inequalities.
• Experience of determining priorities in the implementation of a social work service.
• Experience of preparing succinct reports and presenting these in a formal setting.
• Experience of financial management in a social care environment.
• Good IT Skills
• Good report writing and communication skills
• Good Leadership skills
