To be responsible for the management of the identified social work service and, where appropriate, other related services in a given geographical area or specialism • To manage, monitor and ensure the effective delivery of the service to the highest professional standard • To be a member of the local management team to provide support to the Head of Service and to participate as a representative of the Council, as required, in other structures established for multi-agency working. • To ensure the effective allocation of work within the team, ensuring that stated protocols for responding and processing enquiries is adhered to, within the guidelines of Working Together. • To support all members of the team by ensuring that regular supervision and communication takes place on an individual and team basis • To implement an informed and professional approach to service delivery with an awareness of changing national and local priorities • To contribute to the development and dissemination of operational instructions and provide practice guidance, making use of national guidelines and research to ensure that the highest standards of practice are achieved and maintained. • To be responsible for the delegated budget in line with Council procedures and regulations or any agreed pooled budget arrangements to ensure effective use of financial resources • To ensure data is entered accurately onto all appropriate electronic recording and monitoring systems used within Bedford Borough, to enable the effectiveness of the service to be demonstrated against objective performance criteria. • To provide and utilise effective management information and quality assurance systems and to ensure that high standards for service delivery are achieved • To contribute to the timely analysis of management information to inform and improve service delivery. • To monitor, evaluate and review performance targets, identify deficiencies and take remedial action where necessary • To set Service/Team objectives and targets linked to national and local performance indicators, legislation and guidance • To carry out your duties with full regard to the Local Authority policies and procedures, including the LSCB Safeguarding Procedures • To ensure the requirements of the Complaints Procedure are complied with and, if required, respond to complaints • To ensure that all work undertaken complies with health and safety policy and procedures • To have due regard for the equality duty of the Local Authority, • To ensure that all work is delivered to children, young people and their families/carers and to communities, in a manner that complies with equality principles. and to ensure that services are available and accessible • To undertake any other duties or tasks commensurate to the post as may be required by Senior Managers.
