Job Purpose:
1. To design and commission training programmes for the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and quality assuring safeguarding training delivered and reporting back to the LSCB and Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB).
2. To audit safeguarding training needs and monitor and review training delivery across all agencies for both the LSCB and SAB.
3. To act as lead officer in the development and management of the online Learning Pool programme for the LSCB.
Principal accountabilities and responsibilities:
1. To work with the Strategic Partnerships Manager and Chairs of the LSCB and SAB to develop a coherent interagency approach to safeguarding training and raise awareness of safeguarding across partners and communities.
2. To work collaboratively with key agencies and partners such as Brent Council, Brent NHS CCG, Police, Probation Service, Fire Service and the voluntary sector, to pursue the aims of local and national safeguarding agendas.
3. To represent the Strategic Partnership Manager, where appropriate and when requested, on relevant working groups or committees and to participate in the London Training Coordinators working group, and other pan London and national forums as appropriate.
4. To build good working relationships with faith and communities groups and organisations to increase their knowledge and awareness of child protection issues and safeguarding children and adults at risk, and develop effective communication links between these groups and the safeguarding boards.
5. To keep up to date on all key research, legislation, national and local policies and procedures and accordingly update training needs
6. To maintain excellent records of activity, audits and relevant databases to be able to report back and provide analysis, as and when required to the LSCB and SAB, and their Learning and Development sub-groups.
7. To undertake annual training needs analysis for the LSCB and SAB using a range of sources such as information from Board and partnership audit results and feedback from previous training delegates.
8. To lead in the development of a clear and comprehensive strategy to multi-agency training for both LSCB and SAB.
9. To commission relevant training identified in the strategy for the LSCB and in line with training needs analyses.
10. To lead in contract monitoring and quality control of service providers. This includes regularly reviewing quality of content and training deliverers.
11. To produce full and clear reports on training as required by the LSCB, the SAB and/or their respective sub-groups
12. To ensure that equality issues, equal opportunities and diversity is integral in your work and the training provided.
13. To maintain a training resources database.
14. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and all employees are required to act in such a way that at all times safeguards the health and well being of children and vulnerable adults.
15. Carry out duties with due regard to the Council’s Customer Care, Equal Opportunities, Information Governance, Data Protection and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
16. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of this post.
