An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals to work as a Social Worker from the point of referral, undertaking assessment, through to providing support and intervention with the child and their family, to an ending whereby the family no longer require our intervention. This is a great time to join Swindon Borough Council as a Social Worker, where we have innovative projects like Social Workers in Schools and Family Safeguarding, being implemented.
This is an innovative pilot in Children’s Services; working collaboratively with partner agencies. Swindon Borough Council is rated as ‘good’ in its last Ofsted Inspection in 2019. We aspire to offer children and their families fewer changes in Social Worker for the duration of the child’s journey.

We require all social workers to have:
• A degree or diploma in Social Work, full Social Work England registration and a proven ability to work in partnership with children, young people, parents, carers and partners.
• A strong strength based approach and child-centred value base that informs the work with children, young people and families.
• A relentless commitment to quality and a child’s lived experience – and be able to talk about what good practice ‘looks like’ for children, young people and families.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to engage and motivate children, young people and their families in a range of circumstances.
• Effective assessment, analysis and planning skills.
• An experience social worker with child protection, court and looked after children experience About Us
• Location - you will initially be based in assessment team and then moving with your allocated families to a locality team
• Supervision and training will be provided
• You will be provided with a mobile phone and laptop
