Based in Southwark Council’s Community Support Unit, and reporting to the unit’s Team Manager, the No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) Social Worker will assess the social care needs of migrants with no recourse to public funds. As a qualified social worker, you'll assess the social care needs of adults, and children of adults with no recourse to public funds, ensuring that support is provided to those who are most in need. You will be responsible for assessing people's support needs, and signposting those who are not eligible for support to other organisations for assistance. You will apply your knowledge of immigration, human rights and social care to the work of the team and the assessments and reviews that you undertake
Candidate Profile
To hold a recognised social work qualification and be able to provide evidence of registration to the GSCC.
Knowledge of key legislation relevant to professional social care work
Knowledge of the functions of a health and social care department and related agencies
Knowledge of methods to plan and review services for the client group
Knowledge of social diversity and equal opportunities and the ability to demonstrate this throughout all aspects of practice
Must have minimum 4 years Post qualification social work experience required
Experience of managing a complex case load
Strong influencing and negotiating skills with clients and other health professionals
Experience of producing reports for a variety of audiences
Good IT skills
Ability to organise and prioritise work and manage time effectively
Able to work independently and within a team.
