Social Worker-Adult-Safeguarding

To work in the Adult Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (Adult MASH)
To ensure appropriate implementation of West Midlands Adult Safeguarding Procedures and of the local Dudley MBC Adult Safeguarding procedures.
Highlight and assess risk and reduce/prevent harm or abuse.
Ensure the individual is made safe if immediate risk identified
Carry out duty senior function for safeguarding contacts, prioritising and determining the nature of our response..
Completion of lateral checks, determination of level of risk and priority of response
Discussion and information gathering with partner agencies
Making referrals and signposting as appropriate
Determining whether the threshold for a enquiry under Section 42 of the care act is met.
Attendance at MARAC representing adult care teams
Attendance at other meetings where required such as Board sub groups and other information sharing meetings with partners.
Contribution to and deputising for Assistant Team Managers in authorising decisions and other duties where required.
Arrangement of, and particpation in urgent planning meetings
Undertaking some safeguarding enquiries and monitoring of enquiries being undertaken by partner agencies.
Duty visits as directed by Assistant Team Managers.

Specific Accountabilities

o Manage and monitor a workload of very high risk, complex cases and organise work activities taking into account the need to prioritise tasks and responsibilities.
o To manage and prioritise incoming work as part of the duty function.
o Work in partnership with a range of agencies and professionals to safeguard adults
o Lead investigations into allegations of adult abuse, implementing adult safeguarding procedures and resultant safeguarding strategies.
o Chair and facilitate planning and review meetings as required by Assistant Team Manager/Team Manager.
o Contribute to the budget management process.
o Use a range of methods to communicate effectively with people use services, eliciting the needs, wishes and feelings of all involved.
o Undertake interviews, assessments, observations using appropriate frameworks and applying information gathering skills to formulate plans to meet assessed needs consistent with the function of the team.
o Select, use and review timely and appropriate social work interventions that are best suited to the person and their carer, including the design and costing of care and support plans.
o Be responsible for the coordination, implementation and review of support plans and respond in a timely way to changes in circumstances.
o Work in partnership with people who use services, their families and a wide range of other stakeholders to ensure the provision of quality, innovative services.
o Contribute to the development of community resources and have knowledge of local resources, groups and networks that may contribute to enhanced outcomes for people.
o Take responsibility for identifying your own learning needs, taking responsibility for improving your practice through appropriate continuing professional development.
o Make proactive use of supervision (in line with Dudley’s Supervision Policy) to critically reflect on practice, explore different approaches to your work, support your development across the nine capabilities and understand the boundaries of professional accountability.
o Contribute to the development of the organisations information strategy and systems, with particular priority given to maintaining data quality.
o Share information in ways that meet legal, ethical and agency requirements.
o Record information in a timely, respectful and accurate manner, writing records and reports for a variety of purposes and audiences, using language suited to function and using the required information management systems.
o Operate within the legal framework, departmental policies and procedures and demonstrate a clear understanding of their practical uses.
o Comply with the Council’s Financial Regulations and Standing Orders.
o In addition to the responsibilities above, all employees must be flexible in their approach and undertake other duties that are commensurate with their grade in order to achieve the objectives of the Directorate.
