The Senior Practitioner will be expected to be fully competent in the whole range of professional duties and responsibilities and to reach the level of competence where they can operate self sufficiently within the normal arrangement of management accountability and the application of relevant legislation, policy, procedures and social work theory. They will be expected to develop expertise and take on responsibility for specific areas of work and to lead in the development of new services and new ways of working in conjunction with the Team Manager. they will be responsible for social care leadership in a predominantly health based setting of a community mental health team. They will be required to supervise social workers and social care staff. They will have support of health team manager but also support and direction from the council principal mental health social worker
