As the occupational therapist on the unit you will :
• Assess individual client's needs and implement an action plan in order to facilitate a safe discharge
• Understand the clients usual daily routine, establish their current functional baseline and provide occupational engagement in order to improve and maintain functional ability
• Identify the need for further interventions to improve, restore and attain occupational performance whilst maximising client's choice and control in their lives.
• Ensure clients remain functionally optimised whilst on the unit.
• Establish moving and handling care plans and support care staff to facilitate these.
• Ensure care staff practice safe moving and handling techniques with clients
• Undertake home visits to establish the need for, and arrange, the provision of any assistive technology, equipment or adaptations required to enable a safe discharge
• Understand the importance of safeguarding policy and procedures and integrate and implement these into your work.
• Be fully conversant with statutory legislation and guidance, and demonstrate that you implement this in your day to day practice and have substantial experience as a practitioner
