A growing number of children and young people in the UK are being identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN) whether academic, physical, mental health/medical or behavioural. Many improvements have been made to support children within specialist provisions such as Complex Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units (PRUs). These developments have led to an increase in the demand for learning mentors.

  • The Ideal candidate will have qualifications and experience in either counselling, youth work, social work or teaching.

Located in Islington this special educational needs school caters to students aged between 11-16 years old who have varied levels of EBD,ADHD, MLD and SEBD. The school have extremely high expectations of students to ensure everyone achieves their full potential. While sharing an ethos to encourage all pupils to develop their aspirations while providing a structured curriculum that helps them to be the best they can be.


  • Mentoring small groups of students and working 1:1 with key pupils.
  • Provide an effective transition from primary to secondary school for vulnerable students.
  • Putting together individual tailor-made action plans as well as co-teaching some alternative Curriculum lessons
  • Liaising with senior staff and external parties
  • Identify barriers to learning with pupils the teaching staff, parents/guardians and jointly engage strategies to overcome them
