Experienced Social Worker- Disabled Children's Team

This role is for an Experienced Social Worker to join the Children With Disabilities Team. Candidates must have experience of working within a Disabled Children's Team with knowledge of Child in Need, Children Looked After and Safeguarding Plans. The suitable candidate must have court experience, and the ability to work within a fast pace work environment. In the Disabled Children's team we are working to ensure disabled children in Swindon are appropriately safeguarded and supported to achieve their full potential, we use current research and innovative practice to ensure we achieve these goals. The team is divided into two Pods, one Safeguarding Pod and one Support Pod. Please note placement will be until November 2021
Toundertakeprofessionalandcomprehensivecaseworkforacomplexcaseloadofchildrenandyoung people.  Tomaintain high professionalstandards andgood overall knowledge ofrelevantlegislation regulation and practicemethods,ensuringthatyouareabreastofnewdevelopments.Provideguidanceand supporttoless experiencedstafftohelpthemdeveloptheirprofessionalskillsandknowledge.  Aslead professional, to contribute to the provision of good quality services which integrate governmentand localinitiatives andguidance(includingWorking Together,Child Protection procedures, Looked AfterChildren’sprocesses,theAssessmentFrameworkandCommon Assessment Framework). Key Accountabilities Casework  Manage anallocatedcaseload appropriate totheextensive experience ofthe Experienced Social Worker,to include complex assessments of children,families and parenting and other work tomeet statutory requirements.  WorkwithinSwindonBoroughCouncil’s policies,procedures andgoodpractice guidelinesin orderto meet the needs ofthe children and families allocated.  Work with children and young people, families, carers and communities to help them make informed decisions, engender change enabling them to clarify and express their needs, and contribute to serviceplanning.  Maintain up to date case notes and otherrecords, utilising relevantIT systems, and write reports, including courtreports, and give expert evidence in court.  Undertakespecialistassessments,foryourandotherworkers’cases,forcourtproceedings, including parenting and kinship assessments.  Ensure that casework is up todate, comprehensively written up, andmanaged within agreed timescales.  Ensureyourmanageris keptfully appraised of problems arising fromcases orwork loadandtoseek advice as and when necessary.  When working withfamilies,to recognise monitor and assessrisk. To ensure information aboutriskis escalated tomanagersin a timelymanner.  Developandmaintainpositiveworkingrelationshipswithserviceusersandotherprofessionals.  Model good practice helping to setthe expectationsforothers.  Whereappropriate act asthedutyworkerfortheteamresponding toqueries andissues
