Mixture of home working and office as stated above. Induction will be at West Street House.
Some ability to manage own diary, but CP meetings are held in the building and so will need to attend the office at these times.

  • To chair Children Looked After Reviews and to monitor individual care plans in accordance with statutory and departmental guidance, procedure and regulation
  • To chair Child Protection Conferences and quality assure Child Protection plans in accordance with statutory, BWSCP and departmental guidance, procedure and regulation
  • To effectively balance independence and challenge with constructive partnership working to ensure best outcomes for children and young people
  • To contribute to the continuous development of a Service that strives to ensure the meaningful involvement and participation of children, parents, carers and significant others at all times
  • To actively promote and implement Departmental policies, procedures and quality standards which build on best social work practice
  • To achieve agreed targets that reflect local and national drivers and imperatives
  • To undertake quality assurance monitoring and audit programmes as required to evidence best Departmental social work practice, performance and deficits
  • To directly influence policy and social work practice development by modelling clear, explicit and unambiguous expectations that reflect agreed standards and procedures for best meeting the care and protection planning requirements for children in need and Children Looked After
  • To promote partnership working with children, parents, carers, statutory and voluntary agencies and significant others, maximising opportunities to maintain and support children at home and in their own communities, wherever this is appropriate and in the child’s best interests
  • To confront and challenge, as appropriate and by means of an independent and objective perspective, any social work or management practice that does not support West Berkshire’s children in need and Children Looked After population.
