Will have a Social Work qualification and be registered with SWE. Preferably have a Practice Educator qualification.
Must have recent experience in fostering and services for children and possess a good working knowledge of the regulatory framework. Will have recent experience of Special Guardianship and Connected Person processes and assessment.
Able to work independently and have good decision making skills. Able to support staff to develop skills, as well as promote best practice. Proven ability working with other professionals and agencies.
Excellent recording skills and able to hold a small complex caseload as required.

Provide professional and reflective supervision to staff and promote best practice across the service
Quality assure reports and statements
Provide expertise to support the development of SGO and Connected Person processes across Children’s Services
Chair meetings
Deputise for Team Manager as needed
Work in partnership with Foster Carers, children and agencies to promote the role of the Fostering Team

  • To carry a workload requiring exemplary practice in situations of high complexity, exercising a degree of autonomy. Regular supervision will be in accordance with the departmental supervision policy.
  • If required, to provide direct supervision to staff as directed by the Team Manager.
  • To coach/mentor less experienced team members.
  • To work within relevant current legislation and the procedural framework of Bedford Borough Council (the Council).
  • To work collaboratively with service users and their families to assess their needs and plan and deliver services in accordance with the social work team’s service area.
