A Quantity Surveyor is needed to join an Award-Winning Developer who operate across the Home Counties & the South East. They have been established over 30 years and are growing year by year.

The role would suit either an Assistant Surveyor who is ready to take a step up to Intermediate level, or a solid Intermediate Surveyor looking to progress to a Senior Surveyor within 2-3 years.

Job description & Responsibilities for Quantity Surveyor

Reporting into the Commercial Manager, some of your duties will include;

·         Monitor contract costs against agreed budgets - company financial reporting

·         Start, manage and conclude packages or entire projects

·         Guide and advise staff on contractual issues

·         Utilising previous NEC and JCT Design and Build contract knowledge bring maximum value to projects

·         Guide and develop junior commercial staff, identifying training where necessary

·         Work closely with the Commercial Manager in to improve processes and manage the commercial team

Key Skills & Qualifications

·         BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying

·         Demonstrable experience in Surveying in a Main-Contractor environment

·         Experience working both independently and also as part of a team

The Company

Our client is a well-established Main Contractor who specialise in High End Refurbishments & Fit Outs of Retail, Commercial & Residential projects.

They are involved in flagship, high end projects with some of their key clients including organisations such as Selfridges, Fendi & Valentino.

The candidate will be replacing a Quantity Surveyor currently working for our client and you will be overseeing and running projects from day 1.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a well-respected company and to work on some highly prestigious projects in the West End.

 

Job description & Responsibilities


Some of your duties will include;

  • Calculate all the prime costs on developments within the business, reporting any movements in the costs since the preparation of the land purchase exercise. Prime costs to include but not restricted to house pricing, labour costs, site work operations and remediation work.
  • Provide a detailed cost budget and share with Site Project Team at the appropriate time.
  • Detail a labour cost schedule including anticipated target hours.
  • Maintain schedules of quantities and price them individually for prime cost budget.
  • Once land opportunities are identified, familiarise the geographical area and consider site issues.
  • Prepare estimates of all prime costs inc. subcontract and materials.
  • Complete the apportionment of total prime costs to individual plots and produce a profit analysis for the Director.
  • Monitor and explain all cost movements.

Responsible for procurement of subcontractors, including payments, variation orders and day works and settlement of final accounts.


Key Skills & Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or similar
  • Experience working on retail projects

Due to increased workload, our client is now actively seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

All their projects are in London, mostly within the M25.

This position would best suit a candidate with either a strong trade background, or someone with experience working for sub-contractors.

Reporting to the Head of Interiors, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

  • Ensure that the programme deadlines are achieved
  • Assist the contractors and subcontractors to ensure they have a full understanding of the required program dates
  • Ensure that all building operations are carried out in line with current health and safety standards and that all method statements and risk assessments have been reviewed and checklists completed
  • Conduct and monitor tool box meetings, health & safety training and TQM training, including site inductions and site training are conducted as necessary
  • Ensure that all works are carried out to the highest standards of quality
  • Assess the quality of work at all stages

To be successful in the role you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Must have a demonstrated track record in Site Management within a contractor environment
  • Experience with managing retail projects
  • CSCS Card
  • First Aid
  • Have excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be computer literate
